Registration/Payment

These terms and conditions apply to all guests, sponsors, and their invitees.  Guests and sponsors shall be jointly, and severally liable, for all charges incurred by either of them or their invitees, and for any damaged or missing hotel property and any increased rate due to additional guests or length of stay.  At time of reservation, the credit card will be charged for the deposit described below which shall include the required standard City of Los Angeles Hotel Tax, presently 14%.  Remaining charges for the reserved stay shall be charged to a credit card on check-in, in addition to a standard refundable security deposit authorization of $30.00 per day, but at least $100.  A valid photo ID (passport or U.S. drivers license) is required at check in.  If the photo or signature does not match, or the ID is expired, we must refuse service. 

Deposit Payments to Hold Reservations

In order to reserve a hotel apartment for up to 30 days, a deposit payment is required.  1 night deposit is required on stays of 1 week or less; a 3 night deposit is required on stays of 8 nights to 2 weeks; a 1 week deposit is required on stays between 15 nights and 3 weeks; and a 10 night deposit is required for stays up to 30 nights. 

Affordable Hotel Terms

The intent of management is to provide affordable accommodations and free parking for one vehicle per hotel apartment.  Therefore room supplies beyond initial courtesy sample supplies, such as coffee, toiletries, toilet paper, etc., are not provided; no gratuities are allowed; hotel room housekeeping services and bellmen services are not provided; guests must tote their own bags; and there are fully furnished kitchens instead of room service.  There is a coin operated laundry room and if a guest requests additional sheets, towels, etc., there will be reasonable charges therefor. 

Cancellations and Refunds

Changes/cancellations may be made at least 72 hours before each reserved date on stays of 3 nights or less; at least 1 week before each reserved date on stays of 4 to 14 nights; at least 10 days before each reserved date on stays of 15 to 21 nights; and at least 2 weeks on stays of 22 to 30 nights, for a full refund of any deposit.  If a reservation is canceled less than the applicable above mentioned period before the reserved date or the guest does not show up, there will not be a refund of the deposit, except to the extent that Essex Manor was paid for re-renting the Hotel Apartment during the subject reservation period less all administrative costs.

Extending Stay

A stay may be extended only upon written confirmation by Essex Manor and only if it will not interfere with hotel’s honoring of prior reservations. 

Checking In/Out Appointments

Check in may occur only by appointment with the hotel manager after 3:00 p.m. on the first day of guest’s stay.  Check out must occur only by appointment by 12:00 p.m. noon on the day following the last night of guest’s stay.  

Right to Refuse Service

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone without a stated reason, and in such an event, any amounts previously deposited for an unused reservation may be refunded.  We may choose not to rent to anyone too close to the requested stay or to anyone under 21, but if we choose to rent under such circumstances, we may require a sponsor and/or a significant security deposit.

Liability

We shall bear no liability in excess of a refund of amounts paid if a hotel apartment is not available when planned for any reason including but not limited to an Act of God, a need for repair, or in the very unlikely event of having to remove a guest who has overstayed, or refusal of service.   

No Smoking in Rooms or Building

As a courtesy to non-smokers and for safety purposes, smoking is not allowed in the hotel apartments or within any area of the hotel.  However, guests may smoke outside the front door of the main building, near the bench and ashtray.

No Lifeguard on Duty and Requirment to Supervise Children

Guests understand that there is no lifeguard on duty in the Jacuzzi area which area is supposed to remain locked, but which could be left open inadvertently by a guest.  Guests will assure that any children they bring into the hotel will be supervised at all times not only in the Jacuzzi area, but in all areas of the hotel.

Payment for Removal or Damage to Hotel Property or Other Amounts Due

All contents of hotel apartments are carefully inventoried and inspected before check-in and after check-out.  A guest and a guest’s sponsor shall be liable and their credit cards as well as their security deposit may be charged either before or after a guest has checked out, upon discovery of any hotel property removed or damaged by a guest or guest’s invitee, any mechanical or plumbing problems, including those caused by foreign objects dropped into a low flow toilet, any extraordinary cleaning expenses, and any increased rates due to a change in length stay and/or number or ages of occupants.  Charges shall include all required labor, time, and incidental expenses and all resulting losses to the hotel, including lost income.

Misconduct, Waste, Nonpayment or Overstay

No guest or invitee shall disturb the peace, create any type of nuisance, waste resources or utilities, leave air conditioning, heat, lights, or appliances on when guests are gone, damage or remove property, fail to maintain premises in a sanitary, healthful condition, or engage in any illegal activities.  No parties are allowed on the premises.  No pets of any kind are allowed on the premises.  If a guest or invitee fails to check out in accordance with guest’s reservation or has not paid all charges incurred, or engages in what the hotel deems misconduct, or violates any of these terms and conditions, the hotel shall have the right to immediately remove such guest and/or invitees and all of their personal belongings at their expense, and to also charge guest for any expenses and/or rental loss incurred as a result.  Depending on the circumstances, security, police and/or any other governmental entities may become involved at the hotel’s discretion. 

Vehicles Parked in Hotel Parking Lot

A vehicle parked in the hotel parking lot is parked at the guest’s/vehicle owner’s risk, and the hotel shall not be liable for any damage/loss.  Guests are prohibited from the sale, rental, or transfer of their right to occupy a parking space, and if any vehicle is not parked in its assigned space or if any vehicle other than the guest’s designated vehicle is left in the hotel parking lot without hotel’s written consent, the vehicle may be removed or towed at the guest’s/sponsor’s and/or vehicle owners’ expense.

Property Left Behind

If we find any property left behind, we will make reasonable efforts to locate the owner and return it before disposing of it after 14 days.

Privacy Policy

We will protect your privacy by not sharing your personal and credit card information with any other outside entity. 

Entire Agreement/Attorney’s Fees

This is the entire agreement between guests/sponsors/invitees and the hotel.  If any terms or conditions are found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms and conditions will remain in effect.  In the event legal action must be taken, all parties agree that the action will be filed and litigated in Los Angeles, California.  The prevailing party will be entitled to recover reasonable attorney’s fees, costs, and expenses, from the other party or parties, whether a court action is filed or not.
